stoneman murders reviewed
as is my new format. summary of the movie first.
kay kay menon is an inspector in mumbai police and resorts to barbaric beating of criminals whenever they don't regurgitate the authentic facts. one day he gets to investigate a fisherman who he thinks knows about a gory murder in a nearby area as he thinks him to be a vagabond loafing in the wild and committing the murder. he beats him black and blue and to his astonishment the person dies. subsequently kay kay is suspended to his opposition. he claims to solve the murder mystery which he thinks if left uncontrolled cud lead to serial killings.on his persistence in claiming to solve d case he is given d order of running a parallel inquiry but sans his police uniform or as a common man. he is inundated wid hurdles and hindrances in his quest to do so which form the rest of the story.............
the positives.
story is taken from real life and thats apprehensively why it seems believable.
kay kay menon is outstanding in certain sequences like the one in the bar and while enquiring about the case in a dhaba. he emotes despair, helplessness and his characters' restive state with characteristic aplomb. he is undoubtedly the highlight of the film. the reality in dingy by lanes of mumbai add too much reality into d muvee. the head police officer is good and so is virendra saxena as kamle. the small screen actor gives stiff competition to kay kay in acting. the viewer is all the more excited to know that it was a real story at the end of the movie.
the negatives
the movie ends in a very eclectic fashion involving occult which leave the viewer craving for a good completion. the bareback scene of rukhsana , kay kay's wife is consummately uncalled for and has no significance whatsoever. it just seems an ostensible signal from her to other bollywood directors that she can also dare to bare.too less thrilling phases make it a bit tedious.
all in all a good 100 minute watch. go for it if you are dying to see a movie before the producers' strike.
ill go with 3/5 for this thriller cum reality cinema. it rankles me that it didnt do too well at the box office but perhaps the indian audience is as strange as the pot boilers in bollywood.(but that is changing for sure).

13 B Reviewed
the story in a nutshell is that Manohar aka Mannu shifts to a new home encountering great hurdles and has a huge loan yet to be paid but is surfeit with the happiness which has ensued owing to that. everything goes hunky dory till a few eerie incidents take place which impel him to believe something amiss in his house. the suspicion turns all the more when he sees the programme ("sab khairyat")which his family regularly watches and of which he is hitherto overtly cynical.the events in the programme happen to match just what starts to happen to him and then he comes to realise that the programme is only telecast in his home and nowhere else. thats when he comes to know of a supernatural intervention in his abode. how he encounters these extra human elements forms the engrossing part of the story.
Firstly the positives.
The movie even without the use of gory murders, portentous roars and inexplicable scowls goes on to make u feel uncanny and scares you in certain sequences irrespective of the fact how strong hearted you may be.Madhavan is again praiseworthy and will stay in many a directors heart in mumbai as he has down south.Poonam Dhillon hasnt jaded a single bit and is as beautiful as she was 20 years ago.She carries off the role of Madhavan's mother with panache.Neetu Chandra again is conspicuous despite a very cornered role. After oye lucky and traffic signal she again fits in the role of the wife perfectly.Sachin Khadekar inadvertently shows whose the most senior actor in the film with his remarkable acting. The Subhash chandra bose actor seems to just move into the shoes of his character in any movie.
The sound effects make for a scary feel. Camera angles are applaudible.the movie enthralls one and exhorts one to stay at the seat throughout and this plus point has come up after quite a while in a bollywood movie which tend to sag half way down the runtime.
Negative points are headed by the repetition of eye close ups throughout the film. it is unfathomable as to how eye close ups will scare even the most captivated watcher.the rain and thunder effects are avoidable since people have grown over them and dey arent terrifying anymore.the ending isnt happy which couldve been so and left the audience go back home with a feel good explanation of the movie. another major shortcoming of the film is that although the intended scary scenes might be to their objective but they appear very sporadically throughout the movie. the viewer needed to be intimidated more. if comapred to a hollywood horror movie like say The Ring it stands nowhere but still its better than major hindi horror films.
considering the mesmerizing and dazzling pace and intuitiveness which the film induces it isnt a bad watch after all.
ill go with 2.5 on 5 for dis new age horror flick. watch it once and you wont rue.

Delhi 6 reviewed (guest column)
i am back and sorry for returning late. Actually the academic constraints have compelled me to this situation. anyways this week the review is of a 2 week old movie a very popular movie which failed to gross much at the box office. There is a small change in the scheme of things in this review. the change is that i am not rviewing this but my good friend Ms Priyam Bagga is doing it. i have already introduced you to her. i am thankful and grateful at the same breath to her for taking the pains for doing so. i hope you equally like her review as you did mine. awaiting your response
Over to Priyam:
Delhi 6 ------ All hype, no substance
With all the hype surrounding the movie
i go wid a mediocre 2.5 on 5 for dis high expectation breaker.

Thanx giving
I was encouraged and coaxed to open this by Mr DHRUV SINGHAL who took Ashmita's advice to me forward. Dhruv is also an amicable guy who loves being practical and doing things the modern practical way. I seek and follow his advice on innumerable topics. Through this i will be able to stay in constant touch with his views even if he goes somewhere abroad to study. Thank you dhruv for constantly reminding me to do this.
And the most important of them my dear baalikey PRIYAM BAGGA. it was she who told me to open my account on this website. Its a great honour for me to be getting inputs from her who herself is such an analytical movie reviewer. She is pursuing eng honours and has reviewing muvees in her syllabus. She is super intelligent and has a great sense of humour. She is creative too and is quite bold. I have told her to teach me nuances of intricate movie reviewing which she has gladly affirmed(though she said shed forgotten but that is her way of saying an inevitable yes which one and all admire).
I would also like to thank Mr JAGPREET SINGH ARORA , my college friend for exhorting me to join a blog and express myself more freely here. He is a sharp boy who grasps studies and talks with equal elan and the girls swoon over his intelligence(wish this would happen to me lolz). amyways thanx Jaggy for promoting me to open this.
GITESH CHOPRA my bro for always telling me to change my lines to all this rather than studying science and also appreciating my leisurely works. lolz thanx bro
MK for her invaluable endorsement and encouragement of my views. seeing her relentless achievements and a deluge of plaudits i draw extreme courage and inspiration . she is an intelligent girl whose words i carefully keep in mind. thank u "bella". lol
ROHIT SATIJA whos healthy criticism spurs me on to do something in which i can excel.
SRISHTI NANDA for her sincere approval of my thoughts. she herself is quite good at english though but she has unfounded fears that her english is deteriorating by the day which obviously isnt the case.
NAVEEN BHATTI my massi for her perpetual endorsement of my interests nad writings.
SACHIN PRAKASH whos like my older bhaiya who also likes and appreciates my writing and encourages me.
ARIJIT BHAUMIK a top level student whose words of praise dont ever seems flattering.
KASHISH SHARMA who understands my english quite well and is always a great motivation to do such creative things. i look forward to ur participation also kashish.
VANITA GODARA needs a special mention. she is such an inspiration with what she does that seeing her one gets immense vivification to do a task to its fullest. so a fraction of credit goes to her also.
These friends also praised me in my endeavours and i am no less thankful to them also. The people are: HARDIK GAURAV (for always appreciating my efforts and endorsing my reviews), ABHAY SODHI (for providing impetus to my efforts and looking at the funny side of my reviews)
AYESHA SINGHAL (who takes literary help on matters which cant be told publicly like dis but also appreciates me).
OM NAULAKHA cant be forgotten either. To get appreciation from such an achiever makes u feel that you have something special in you.
ROHIT SATIJA whos healthy criticism spurs me on to do something in which i can excel.
ADITYA GUPTA the adventurous boy who appreciates everyone and encourages to do better.
RAGHAV SETHI who is himself an avid bollywood movie fan and knows whats being reviewed.
ARPITA BHARDWAJ for her sporadic likeness and hate of my reviews but she is more encouraging than discouraging.
PARAMVIR SETHI also likes and encourages my reviews. thanx PARAM
SANTOSH SRINIOVASAN who unkowingly knows and appreciates my reviews and thoughts. an intelligent guy whose praise isnt selfish and just for d sake type thank u srini.

Aamir isnt called perfectionist for nothing. he has put all his potential into the movie wid a spellbinding eight pack to top the list. well the first 70-80 min of the movie are replete wid comic scenes and set the stage for this magnificent film. Asin steals the show during this duration and is gonna go a long way in her bollywood career. a mind blowing B debut. she emotes to the comparison of Aamir. an extremely talented young lady. the whole movie is explained in such vivid detail it evokes a feeling that this muvee shudnt ever end. d last 20 mins or so are sad but really there are little aspects of d film left for the viewers' food for thought.Jiah Khan too plays her part wid elan and thus becums an essential part of d film. the villain who was also in Lagaan is named Ghajini. he is also amazing. excellent package of entertainment filled wid action , drama, comedy, emotions and the thrill.
Excellent comedy over the top action sequences and marvellous chemistry of the 2 protagonists will lead dis muvee 2 b a blockbuster and i vouch for it. take mt words in writing this muvee is a blockbuster. a MUST WATCH in a theatre not at home. spare some time and n joy dis great film. dont miss it!!! ILL go wid 4 ON 5 for this fantastic muvee. hats off to Aamir. go see it and den tell me how authentic or not is my review. merry x mas

if u like 2 see "good" films here is a gud one to hav as a buy on DVD dis winter.or of course im dere 2 giv u also lol. dis movie has some really putrid scenes but they are cute. the struggle of d boy Jamaal inspires u. the acting of child artistes is sublime. a film of this stature from a foreign person is absolutely splendid work. d camera work .. esp in d slums is superb. the movie has some really choicest of expletives but they bring a certain phenomenon to it.A TRULY AWARD WINNING FILM WHICH IS BEYOND MY RATING . watch it 2 know more about it.

ummm. if u r looking for meaningful cinema replete wid "food for thoughts" this certainly isnt for u. it is a no brainer wid certain sequences which are hard to believe but overall it leaves u consummated on d entertainment front. akshay is at his aggressive action best. though the muvee lacks strong comedy, there are certain scenmes which make u laugh. deepika padukone is resplendent & looks gr8 throughout d muvee. her stylist needs to b apllauded for transforming her face so much & yet sustaining her natural beauty. in certain frames she steals d show from akshay completely like d one on airport. as d chinese duplicate she mathes akshay stunt on stunt and does unprecedented action for a bollywood diva. the chinese actors are great. d great wall of china has been wasted.
nikhil advani has innovated adding many other old filmy songs an various sequences like touch me touch me wen deepika tries 2 seduce akshay and a different version of pappu cant dance.wat is d drwaback of d muvee is its tempo which d muvee fails 2 sustain as soon as it tries 2 gain and dis happens throughout. it is a truth that it doesnt entertain likea rab ne or ghajini but it does 2 an extent. deepika has certainly improved as a heroine. so to end i just say that it is a one time watch and isnt that u feel i shud watch it again like a jaane tu or rock on!!!. so I GO WID 2.5 ON DIS 5. if u r akshay fan go for it. ull not rue it and as kashay says dont forget to keep ur brain at home lol.
